UNITED Conference – “Power of Coexistence: Turn it on!”

Between 15-20 May 2019, UNITED for Intercultural Action, Youth Centre Perspektiva and Projekte Vullnetare Nderkombetare held a conference entitled “Power of Coexistence: Turn it on! Bridge, Cooperate, Overcome” in Durrës, Albania.

The conference focused on coexistence, not only as a general value of understanding and peaceful living within a community, but also as a practical strategy that can help overcoming the current challenges faced in Europe and beyond.

Youth Centre Perspektiva is an organisation working in the field of youth empowerment and human rights education via artistic and educational activities.

Projekte Vullnetare Nderkombetare is a branch of Service Civil International (SCI), and promotes social development and peace by voluntary work and international youth exchange.

During the five-day conference, activists from all over Europe working in the field of peace building, youth empowerment and human rights gathered to discuss, exchange and act towards the concrete achievement of coexistence in Europe.

The programme included panel discussions with experts, successful examples and good practices of coexistence, working groups on communication, campaign, advocacy, education and community building strategies, and practical workshops on fundraising.

The participants also got the chance to learn about the local situation in Albania through a presentation, and a study visit of the city of Durrës.

Overall, the conference provided them with the chance to network and build opportunities for future cooperations.
